About Invest and Trade Western Australia

Invest and Trade Western Australia acts as the Western Australian (WA) Government’s ‘front door’ to assist investors and businesses wanting to engage with the State’s world-leading industries, while also providing support to local business to reach their export potential.

WA is a trusted strategic partner throughout the Indo-Pacific region and the State’s unique location provides exceptional export and supply chain opportunities.

WA has had a presence in Japan for more than 55 years, with the Tokyo office established in 1968. Invest and Trade WA also has a presence in Kobe, located within WA’s longstanding sister-state, Hyogo Prefecture.

The State Government operates an extensive network of international offices across six regions: Americas, ASEAN, Greater China, India-Gulf, North East Asia and United Kingdom/Europe.

Invest and Trade Western Australia at Expo 2025 Osaka

The Western Australian Government will officially join the Commonwealth Government as a Gold Partner of the Australia Pavilion at World Expo 2025 in Osaka.

World Expo is an opportunity for Western Australian businesses and industries to forge new partnerships, spark innovation, grow their presence in Japan and attract investment into the State.

Australia’s theme ‘Chasing the Sun’ provides an opportunity to promote Western Australia – the sunniest state in Australia – as a key investment and trade partner in an optimal business time zone.

Western Australia’s participation will also strengthen our relationship with Japan, our second largest trading partner, and our longstanding sister-state, Hyogo Prefecture, which will be actively involved in hosting Expo 2025 in Osaka, as part of the broader Kansai Region.

The Western Australian Government will develop a program of activations to attract investment and highlight our world leading innovation and capability across a number of Diversify WA priority sectors, including clean energy, primary industries, space, health and medical life sciences, tourism and creative industries.

First Nations representatives and local talent will feature throughout the program, including creative performances and a Guest Chef activation to promote Western Australian premium food and beverage products, and culinary expertise.

This major world event offers a powerful platform to showcase Western Australia’s diversity of people and culture, sustainable energy and innovative ecosystems, while opening the doors to attract investment and promote trade and tourism ties with Japan.
