With just one month to go until the official opening of World Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Australia has welcomed a new furry friend to its pavilion! Koko the Koala will join Ruby the Souvenir Kangaroo, the official Australia Pavilion mascot, to greet visitors and showcase the best of Australia on the world stage.
Hailing from the eucalyptus forests of Queensland, Koko embodies the spirit of adventure, curiosity, and conservation - all key themes of the Australia Pavilion’s ‘Chasing the Sun’ experience. With her playful personality and love for exploration, she will help bring Australia’s unique landscapes, culture, and beauty to life for millions of visitors over the six-months of Expo.

Koko will work side by side with Ruby to welcome guests, join cultural celebrations, and participate in special events, bringing the Aussie spirit to the Expo. Visitors will have the chance to learn about Australia’s rich biodiversity, Indigenous heritage, and world-leading innovations, all while being charmed by Koko’s friendly and free-spirited nature.
As a symbol of Australia’s commitment to sustainability, Koko will also help highlight the importance of protecting wildlife and natural habitats, key themes of World Expo 2025 Osaka’s focus on creating a better future.
