The Minister for Trade and Tourism Senator the Hon Don Farrell revealed the striking concept design for Australia’s national pavilion for World Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai.

The pavilion is designed by Australian architectural firm Buchan. It reflects Australia’s Expo theme, Chasing the Sun, and is inspired by the many shapes and hues of Australia’s eucalypts, symbolising our nation’s vibrancy and diversity.
Visitors to the Australian pavilion will be taken on an Aussie bushwalk, following the sun across Australia through an immersive experience, as we invite visitors to discover something new about Australia.
The perspectives, experiences and interests of First Nations Australians are integral to the design narrative. Indigenous cultural advisor Karrda is working with the design team to embed concepts of Country into the pavilion.
With sustainability as a strong focus, the Australian pavilion will be built by ES Global using repurposed and re-usable materials, including modular elements previously used for venues at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
The pavilion will host an array of dynamic Australian cultural events and a strategic business program designed to showcase our modern and diverse nation to the world, create opportunities for Australia, and strengthen ties with Japan and the region.
Australia’s participation in Expo 2025 Osaka is symbolic of our Special Strategic Partnership with Japan and the importance we place on our deep and long-standing bilateral relationship.
Over 150 nations and 25 international organisations will participate in the Expo, and with 28 million expected visitors, it will provide an opportunity to promote the best of Australia to a global audience.
